How to make a drive-free Desktop

This tip is for the blessed neat freaks. Those people who cannot tolerate clutter and long for a cleaner, more spartan desktop environment. Did you know, my dear friends, that you can get rid of the attached drive icons on your Desktop? Oh yes. Here's how.

While in the Finder, choose Finder > Preferences and click the General tab. Uncheck the devices you don't want to see on your Desktop, like hard drives, CD's etc. Poof!

That's a few inches of screen real estate you've just gotten back. Whee!
